President Hakainde Hichilema welcomed the United Nations Tourism Delegation, led by Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili, to State House this morning, marking a significant step in Zambia’s efforts to enhance its global tourism presence.

During the meeting, President Hichilema emphasized Zambia’s eagerness to harness its vast natural endowments and diverse tourism assets by integrating into the global networks and systems of UN Tourism. He highlighted the importance of fostering a policy environment that attracts international visitors, promotes sustainable development, and positions Zambia as a premier tourism destination in Africa.

“To unlock our full tourism potential, we must continue to foster a policy environment that attracts international visitors, promotes sustainable development, and showcases Zambia as a premier destination in Africa,” President Hichilema stated.

He further reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to learning from UN Tourism’s global expertise and best practices to strengthen the country’s position in the international tourism sector.

Zambia, home to iconic attractions such as Victoria Falls, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage, aims to capitalize on strategic partnerships to boost tourism growth. The engagement with UN Tourism aligns with the government’s broader vision of economic diversification and sustainable tourism development.
