Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Zambia has welcomed new leadership following the election of Henry Shoko as president, defeating Alpha Kafumbwe by 53 votes to nine, with one spoiled ballot. The vote took place during the federation’s elective Annual General Meeting held on Saturday.

In a statement after the elections, MMA Zambia said Shoko’s victory “reflects the strong confidence that the membership has placed in his leadership, integrity, and vision for the continued growth of Mixed Martial Arts in Zambia.” The federation described the election as transparent and orderly, emphasizing that the outcome represents the collective will of the MMA community.

Outgoing president Benjamin Bush, who chose not to seek re-election, delivered an emotional farewell speech highlighting the federation’s achievements and journey since its founding. Bush expressed gratitude to all members for their contributions to the development of MMA in Zambia.

MMA Zambia extended appreciation to both candidates for their commitment and participation in the election. The federation also thanked members, athletes, and officials who took part in the democratic process.

The election signals not only a leadership change but also a renewed focus on unity, professionalism, and progress within the federation. Under Shoko’s leadership, MMA Zambia aims to elevate the sport, strengthen its structures, and expand opportunities for athletes across the country.

Members and stakeholders are encouraged to support the new administration as it works to grow Mixed Martial Arts in Zambia and enhance the sport’s visibility both locally and internationally.
