The Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Zambia (CCCZ) has officially inaugurated its second council, with Tie Li retaining his position as president. The inauguration, held last week, marked a key moment in the ongoing expansion of Chinese investment and cooperation in Zambia.

In his address, Tie Li expressed sincere appreciation to the Chinese Embassy, the Zambian government, and chamber members for their continued support. He highlighted the rapid growth of the chamber, which now boasts 210 registered member enterprises across a range of sectors, including mining, manufacturing, agriculture, and infrastructure development.

“Chinese investments in Zambia have surged, with notable projects in mining, manufacturing and agriculture,” said Tie. He noted that the chamber has played a critical role in fostering a favorable investment environment and promoting mutually beneficial partnerships between Chinese businesses and local stakeholders.

As part of its new agenda, the CCCZ plans to strengthen its services to member enterprises, offering better support and advocacy in regulatory, commercial, and operational matters. Tie emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration in strategic sectors like mining, agriculture, and infrastructure, which are key pillars of Zambia’s economy.

The chamber also aims to establish more robust platforms for dialogue between the Zambian government and Chinese businesses. This initiative is intended to enhance transparency, facilitate smoother business operations, and align investments with Zambia’s national development priorities.

In addition to business cooperation, Tie Li underscored the importance of strengthening people-to-people relations. The CCCZ intends to launch initiatives that promote cultural exchange, education, and innovation, fostering a stronger social and cultural connection between China and Zambia.

With China ranking among Zambia’s largest foreign investors, the continued leadership of Tie Li and the strategic goals of the second CCCZ council are expected to further cement bilateral economic relations. As both countries look to the future, the chamber’s expanded role promises to be a vital bridge for growth, collaboration, and shared prosperity.
