Zambia Leadership Engages Oasis Forum in Seven-Hour Dialogue on National Unity

On 28 November 2025, President Hakainde Hichilema held a comprehensive seven-hour meeting with the leadership of the Oasis Forum, a coalition of civil society organisations in Zambia. The meeting focused on fostering open dialogue as a tool for addressing challenges within the country.

During the discussions, President Hichilema emphasized that Zambia’s diversity naturally leads to differing opinions on national matters, and that such differences should be managed constructively. He stressed that the constitutional review process must not become a source of division among citizens.

The President reaffirmed that all policy and regulatory reforms under his administration have aimed to improve the wellbeing of Zambians. He reiterated the government’s commitment to fair and equitable distribution of resources to every citizen, highlighting the central role of inclusivity in national development.

President Hichilema expressed sincere appreciation to the Oasis Forum leadership, including Archbishop Ignatius Chama, for accepting the invitation to engage in meaningful dialogue. He welcomed the forum’s willingness to continue discussions in pursuit of the nation’s best interests.

The meeting reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to maintain unity, promote constructive debate, and ensure that reforms serve all Zambians.
