Zambia took a major step towards a more connected and competitive future on 31 October 2025, as President Hakainde Hichilema officiated the groundbreaking of key infrastructure projects. The Mutanda Kasempa Kaoma Road, the Solwezi Kipushi Road, and the One Stop Border Facility at Kipushi were launched, marking a significant move in national development.

These projects are being delivered through Public Private Partnerships, allowing vital infrastructure to be built with private investment without straining the national budget. The new corridors will strengthen Zambia’s logistics network, linking North-Western and Western Provinces to regional and international trade routes through the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, and Namibia. This opens access to the Atlantic Ocean via the Lobito and Walvis Bay corridors, positioning Zambia as a regional hub for trade, transport, and investment across SADC and COMESA.

The impact goes beyond transport. The projects will create jobs for youth, stimulate business opportunities in local communities, and open new pathways to prosperity. Crop and beef production zones will ensure Zambians directly benefit from their productivity and hard work.

Under the New Dawn Government, Zambia is being transformed into a trade-driven economy grounded in partnership and innovation. These infrastructure initiatives are designed to support inclusive growth, strengthen national unity, and build lasting prosperity. President Hichilema called on all Zambians to continue moving the country forward and realize its full potential.
