The second day of the Girls’ Education and Women’s Empowerment and Livelihoods for Human Capital (GEWEL 2) Project cooperating partners’ field visit continued with strong engagement in local communities.

The delegation, led by Sweden’s Ambassador to Zambia Johan Hallenborg, Ireland’s Ambassador to Zambia Aida Fitzpatrick, and Deputy British High Commissioner and Development Director Simon Ten-Brinke Jackson, began the day with a courtesy call on Samfya District Commissioner Favourite Musangu.

Partners received briefings on key interventions under the GEWEL 2 Project, including a live demonstration of the Social Cash Transfer (SCT) processes through the Zambia Integrated Social Protection System (ZISPIS). The demonstration highlighted how digital systems are improving efficiency, transparency, and service delivery at the community level.

The delegation concluded the day with a visit to Nkungu Health Post in Samfya District. They engaged with project beneficiaries, heard firsthand testimonies, and observed how nutrition and livelihood interventions are supporting vulnerable households.

The visit reinforced the commitment of cooperating partners to advancing education, empowerment, and improved livelihoods for women, girls, and families in Samfya District.
