This morning, President Hakainde Hichilema, represented by Local Government and Rural Development Minister Hon. Gift Sialubalo, officially handed over 119 newly procured ambulances under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). The vehicles have been distributed to constituencies across Zambia’s deep rural areas.
The new ambulances aim to provide residents in remote communities with fast and reliable access to medical care. Officials highlighted that timely emergency transport can save lives by ensuring patients reach hospitals without delays.
Each ambulance comes fully equipped with life-saving medical equipment, effectively turning them into mobile treatment centers. This ensures that patients receive critical care even while in transit, particularly in areas where health facilities are distant.
Minister Sialubalo noted that the initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving emergency health response and strengthening the national health system. The ambulances are expected to reduce mortality rates in rural communities and improve overall healthcare delivery.
This rollout forms part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance healthcare accessibility and address disparities between urban and rural health services.
