The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with partners, has expanded the government school health programme to 124 additional schools this August. The expansion covers schools across Chirundu, Itezhi-tezhi, Choma, Livingstone, Mazabuka, Monze, Nalolo, Nkeyema, Mongu, Limulungu, Luwingu, Mungwi, Lupososhi, Mbala, Kasama, and Kanchibiya.

This milestone brings timely health interventions to 72,463 more learners, ensuring illnesses are prevented or managed early and allowing children to focus on learning and development.

The expansion was supported by strengthening human resources through the graduation of:

  • 761 School Health Teachers
  • 334 School Health Administrators
  • 234 School Health Coordinators

These trained professionals will serve as the link between schools and health facilities, providing essential services and promoting health awareness. The initiative reinforces Zambia’s commitment to safeguarding the health of its children and building a stronger foundation for the nation’s future.
