The Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) has officially launched the Engineering Fund, a strategic initiative designed to empower engineering professionals, support research, and drive national development.
Speaking at the launch, EIZ President Eng. Wesley Kaluba described the Fund as both “timely and strategic,” emphasizing that engineering professionals must actively lead in shaping Zambia’s future. He added that the Fund will provide engineers with the financial resources to turn innovative concepts into tangible projects.
Chairperson of the Engineering Fund, Eng. Bernard Chiwala, said the initiative represents “a symbol of collective determination to empower Zambian engineering professionals, promote innovation, and position the country firmly on the path of industrial growth and transformation.” He revealed that the Fund has been seeded with K500,000, calling it a strong start and a call for all stakeholders to contribute toward building a lasting legacy.
Zambia Industrial Commercial Bank (ZICB) Chief Retail Banking Officer, Mr. Chibotu Chiyasa, reaffirmed the bank’s support, highlighting the Fund’s relevance as Zambia advances its industrialisation agenda. He noted that by funding research, product development, and industrial projects, the Fund will directly contribute to the country’s economic transformation.
The launch signals a new chapter for Zambia’s engineering profession, providing opportunities for both young and seasoned engineers to access grants and project financing. The initiative is expected to translate innovative ideas into practical solutions, enhancing industrial growth, technological advancement, and national development.
Through the Engineering Fund, Zambia aims to strengthen its engineering sector, nurture local talent, and accelerate the country’s journey toward sustainable industrialisation.
