Foreign Affairs Minister Haimbe Highlights Strong Zambia-UAE Ties During Abu Dhabi Visit

Abu Dhabi, Tuesday, 6th January 2026 – Zambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, S.C., M.P., reinforced the country’s strong diplomatic and trade relations with the United Arab Emirates during high-level meetings in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, 4th January 2026.

Hon. Haimbe met with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. The meetings focused on ways to expand bilateral cooperation and strengthen development partnerships between the two nations.

During discussions with H.H. Sheikh Abdullah, Hon. Haimbe conveyed fraternal greetings from President Hakainde Hichilema to H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. He emphasized the already strong bilateral and trade relations between Zambia and the UAE, expressing Zambia’s desire to broaden and deepen these ties in the coming years.

The meetings explored opportunities for cooperation across multiple sectors aligned with the development priorities of both countries. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to productive development partnerships that support economic growth and enhance the well-being of the people in both Zambia and the UAE.

Hon. Haimbe was joined by Zambia’s Ambassador to the UAE, Professor Nkombo Muuka, and Counsellor at the Zambian Mission in Abu Dhabi, Mr. Yimbilanji Sichone. The visit reflects Zambia’s proactive diplomatic approach to strengthening international partnerships, promoting trade, and advancing shared development goals.

The engagement underscores Zambia’s commitment to leveraging strong bilateral ties to support economic growth, sustainable development, and strategic cooperation with global partners like the UAE.
