The meeting was led by Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru on behalf of the Government of Japan and Vice President Dr. W.K Mutale-Nalumango on behalf of the Zambian Government.

The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in sectors critical to Zambia’s future. These include economic development, renewable energy, infrastructure, education, and technology. Both governments recognized the need to strengthen trade and investment while creating opportunities that directly benefit citizens.

Vice President Mutale-Nalumango expressed gratitude for the consistent support and goodwill Japan has shown Zambia. She highlighted that the partnership between the two nations is built on humility, respect, and sincerity. She described Japan’s approach as one of quiet strength, noting that in diplomacy, silence can often reflect presence and purpose.

The Vice President emphasized Zambia’s commitment to building partnerships grounded in shared values. She underlined that Zambia’s vision for sustainable progress depends on collaboration with trusted allies such as Japan.

This engagement builds on decades of cooperation between the two nations, including Japan’s role in infrastructure development and skills training programs in Zambia. The Yokohama meeting marked another step forward in ensuring that the relationship remains impactful and future-oriented.

Zambia and Japan now look to the next phase of their cooperation, one that will focus on mutual growth, innovation, and sustainable development for the benefit of both peoples.
