Zambia’s National Futsal Team head coach Andrea Cristoforetti has praised a three-day joint training camp involving the Senior and U17 National Futsal Teams as a major milestone for the sport in the country. The camp, held in Lusaka, focused on enhancing team cohesion, tactical understanding, and long-term player development.
Speaking at the conclusion of the camp, the Italian coach highlighted its dual objectives: preparing the senior team for upcoming competitions while grooming the U17 squad for future challenges. “Three very productive days of training camp with both our Senior and U17 National Teams. Step by step, we are building both our present and future, and every day of this camp brought us closer to our goals,” Cristoforetti said.
The U17 team is now concentrating on securing qualification for the Youth Olympic Games, a key target in the nation’s youth futsal calendar. The training camp provided young players with exposure to high-level tactics, advanced fitness routines, and collaborative play with the senior squad, giving them valuable experience ahead of international competition.
Cristoforetti also emphasized that integrating youth and senior players strengthens Zambia’s futsal ecosystem. The approach allows younger players to learn directly from experienced national team members, creating a seamless talent pipeline for future senior teams.
Officials and technical staff described the camp as a success, noting improvements in team coordination, defensive organization, and attacking strategies across both squads. The initiative reflects Zambia’s growing investment in futsal, aiming to raise the national profile of the sport and achieve long-term competitive success at regional and international levels.
The joint training camp underscores Zambia’s commitment to nurturing talent, preparing teams for upcoming tournaments, and building a sustainable futsal program that links youth development with senior national team performance.
