The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) has officially launched the IDC Intra-Group Marketplace, a digital platform designed to enhance trade, visibility, and collaboration among its subsidiaries and investee companies. The platform aims to streamline transactions, improve transparency, and create new business opportunities within the IDC group.
Speaking at the launch, IDC Chief Executive Officer Cornwell Muleya described the initiative as a bold step toward transforming intra-group trade. He noted that the corporation is introducing a unified digital platform that allows subsidiaries to conduct transactions in real time with full transparency.
Muleya acknowledged that collaboration across the group had historically fallen short of expectations. He highlighted that many subsidiaries operated in isolation, resulting in missed business opportunities. “We must be honest that the level of collaboration within our group has not been at the scale that we’ve always wanted. This platform provides a framework to unlock synergies and maximize the potential within our network,” he said.
The IDC Intra-Group Marketplace offers a range of features, including real-time transaction processing, product and service listings from different subsidiaries, and analytics to track business performance. By enabling seamless interaction among group companies, the platform is expected to improve efficiency, reduce duplication, and increase intra-group trade.
The launch reflects IDC’s broader strategy to leverage technology to enhance operational efficiency, foster innovation, and strengthen the competitiveness of its subsidiaries. It also aligns with efforts to create a more integrated corporate ecosystem that supports sustainable growth and drives value for the wider economy.
Muleya encouraged all subsidiaries to actively engage with the platform and explore new opportunities for collaboration, emphasizing that the success of the Marketplace will depend on the commitment of every company within the IDC group.
The IDC Intra-Group Marketplace marks a significant step in modernizing intra-corporate trade and strengthening the digital capabilities of Zambia’s industrial development landscape.
