Youth, Sports, and Arts Minister Elvis Nkandu described Zambia’s 2-0 defeat to Morocco as heart-breaking. On Monday, Morocco ended Zambia’s hopes of qualifying for the World Cup with goals from Youssef En-Nesyri and youngster Igmane Hamza.

Minister Nkandu expressed disappointment over the continued losing streak of the Zambia National Team. He noted that Zambia, known as a footballing nation, should not experience such results. “Every Zambian indeed needs to be very concerned,” Nkandu said.

He highlighted that the government has taken steps to support and motivate the team, including financial contributions. “We have done everything we can to motivate them,” he added, emphasizing the need for reflection and action to restore national pride in football.

The minister’s comments underline growing concern over the team’s performance and the urgency to address challenges affecting Zambia’s competitiveness on the international stage.

Nkandu urged stakeholders, players, and fans to work together to rebuild the team’s strength and reputation. The loss marks another setback in Zambia’s football journey, raising questions about strategy, preparation, and long-term development of the sport.
