The Zambia Under-20 national women’s handball team is set to compete at the 32nd Africa Women’s Junior Handball Championship, which begins tomorrow in Oran, Algeria, and runs until September 13, 2025.
Head coach Mcbilo Kalenga, assisted by Chilekwa Bwalya, has named a 14-member squad to represent the nation. The team includes experienced youth players from top Zambian clubs such as Lusaka Tigers, Bluewood, Kasisi Dynamite, and Kali Legacy.
The squad has undergone rigorous preparation, with training focused on tactical awareness, fitness, and teamwork. The coaching staff aims to push the team beyond the group stage and contend for a top finish.
Zambia’s U20 side hopes to build on recent performances in regional competitions, using this continental tournament to gain experience and showcase the country’s growing talent in women’s handball. Strong performances by key players could also enhance their visibility for future national team selection and professional opportunities abroad.
The championship provides an opportunity for Zambia to strengthen its presence in African women’s handball and set the foundation for sustained success in junior and senior competitions.
