Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE) Chief Executive Officer Nicholas Kabaso says Zambia’s stock market being named the world’s best performer reflects the success of its strategies to compete among frontier markets.

Bloomberg recently reported that the LuSE All Share Index leads year-to-date gains globally, with nearly 56 percent growth in local currency terms. This performance highlights growing investor confidence and the effectiveness of reforms implemented to enhance market efficiency.

In an interview on Wednesday, Kabaso noted that Zambia has long aimed to position itself as a leading frontier market. “From our perspective, what that basically means is that we continue to have the agenda that we have been on for the last few months and years,” he said, emphasizing consistent efforts to strengthen transparency, trading practices, and market accessibility.

Kabaso explained that the robust growth reflects not only market strategies but also broader economic resilience. The LuSE continues to attract both local and international investors through improved regulatory frameworks and investor engagement initiatives.

He added that the exchange remains committed to expanding its product offerings and deepening liquidity to sustain performance gains. The recent recognition is expected to further enhance Zambia’s appeal as a frontier market and encourage increased investment inflows.

The LuSE’s strong showing signals a positive trajectory for Zambia’s capital markets and underscores the potential for continued growth and integration with global financial systems.
