Vice President of the Republic of Zambia, Dr. W.K. Mutale-Nalumango, held a constructive dialogue with His Worship, Mayor Takeharu Yamanaka of Yokohama City, Japan. The discussion focused on expanding educational opportunities through student scholarships, an initiative that both parties believe can empower young leaders and strengthen bilateral relations.

Dr. Mutale-Nalumango highlighted the importance of educational exchange as a tool for building stronger connections between Zambia and Japan. She noted that scholarships would not only open doors for Zambian students to access world-class education but also allow them to gain exposure to global best practices, which they could later apply in their communities.

Mayor Yamanaka welcomed the proposal with enthusiasm and assured his commitment to working closely with Zambia to make the initiative a reality. His willingness to support the program underscores the mutual respect and shared aspirations that continue to shape Zambia–Japan relations.

The Vice President expressed appreciation for Mayor Yamanaka’s openness and forward-looking approach. She reaffirmed Zambia’s readiness to collaborate with Japan in creating meaningful opportunities for young people who represent the future of the nation.

This engagement marks another step in deepening the partnership between Zambia and Japan, reflecting a shared vision of development anchored in education, empowerment, and international cooperation.
