The Zambia Under-20 National Women’s Team continued their impressive run at the 2025 COSAFA U20 Women’s Region 5 Youth Games with a dominant 8-0 victory over Eswatini in their final Group B fixture at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek, Namibia. The Copper Princesses, led by head coach Charity Nthala, completed the group stage with a flawless record, scoring 19 goals in three matches without conceding a single goal.

Zambia wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Lweendo Hanongo opening the scoring early in the match. What followed was a sensational performance from Ruth Mukoma, who netted an extraordinary five goals to earn the Woman of the Match accolade. Namute Chileshe and Grace Phiri also found the back of the net, capping off a ruthless display of attacking football.

The emphatic win over Eswatini came after Zambia had already dispatched South Africa 3-0 in their opening match and recorded an 8-0 demolition of Angola in their second outing. The team’s total of 19 goals scored and zero conceded highlights their defensive discipline and attacking prowess as one of the tournament’s most formidable sides.

Coach Charity Nthala expressed her pride in the team’s performance, praising the players for their discipline, teamwork, and hunger to win. “The girls are showing incredible character and determination. We are proud of what they have achieved so far, but the job is not done yet,” she said.

With momentum on their side and confidence running high, Zambia now looks ahead to the knockout stages of the competition, where they will aim to maintain their unbeaten run and contend for the regional title.

The Copper Princesses have not only entertained fans with their free-flowing football but have also sent a clear message to their rivals: Zambia is here to win.
