Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club wrapped up a remarkable 2024/25 season with a colourful awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 21, in Solwezi, marking their triumphant return to the MTN Super League. The event, held at Brenda’s Events in North-Western Province, brought together players, technical staff, supporters, and key stakeholders to celebrate a season defined by grit, unity, and achievement.
The awards gala honoured both individual brilliance and team-wide dedication. Midfield maestro Kizito Keziron stole the spotlight, earning the prestigious Player of the Season award alongside the Most Consistent Player title. His leadership and commanding midfield presence were instrumental in guiding the team back to Zambia’s top flight.
Strikers Dalitso Lungu and Kalonji Mwepu shared the Top Scorer accolade, each netting nine crucial goals during the promotion campaign. Their combined efforts played a pivotal role in Kansanshi Dynamos’ offensive success throughout the season.
Young talent Martin Alufonso was recognized as the Most Improved Player, highlighting his growth and increasing impact on the pitch. Defender Rodger Chitambala earned the Disciplined Player award for his consistent professionalism, both on and off the field.
Team captain Rodger Lukonde was honoured as the Most Inspirational Player for his steady leadership and ability to motivate the squad through both challenging and victorious moments. His influence was a defining factor in the team’s resurgence.
Promising star Mathews Mwale was awarded the Most Promising Player title, signalling him as one to watch in the upcoming MTN Super League campaign.
The club also took time to recognize key contributors behind the scenes. Mike Zozi and Remmy Chanda were jointly presented with the President’s Award for their exceptional dedication and service to the team. The Media Department was named the Most Consistent Department, praised for keeping fans informed and connected throughout the season.
A special highlight of the evening was the “12th Player Recognition” award, given to the club’s passionate supporters. Their loyalty and energy were described as the heartbeat of the Mabanga Boys, providing unwavering support that fuelled the team’s success.
Speaking at the ceremony, Club President Douglas Nyirenda commended the entire squad for their achievements and emphasized the club’s ambitious mindset heading into the top tier.
“Earning our place back in the prestigious MTN Super League is a milestone we should not take lightly. It was no accident – it was the result of months of hard work, resilience, unity, and ambition,” Nyirenda said.
“As we return, let it be known that we are not just going to participate, but to compete. That is where this club belongs.”
With the momentum of a successful season behind them and a clear vision ahead, Kansanshi Dynamos are poised to make a strong impact in the upcoming MTN Super League campaign.
