First Lady Mutinta Hichilema has been praised for her continued commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable Zambians through thoughtful donations and support of government-led development initiatives. Her recent contribution of six wheelchairs and crutches to residents of Lusaka’s Mandevu and Chaisa compounds has sparked appreciation from both beneficiaries and community leaders.

The donation was handed over during a public rally held in the two townships, where UPND Chairman General for Special Duties, William Banda, represented the First Lady. Speaking at the event, Mr. Banda highlighted the First Lady’s dedication to community welfare and called on constituency chairpersons to follow her example by staying in close touch with the needs of the people.

Mr. Banda urged local UPND leaders to actively engage with branches in their constituencies and identify challenges that require government intervention. He reminded them that resources have been made available by President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration to address these issues through programmes such as the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and Social Cash Transfer.

“The President and the First Lady are not just talking; they are acting,” said Mr. Banda. “These donations are a reflection of their compassion and the government’s commitment to inclusive development.”

Residents receiving the mobility aids expressed deep gratitude for the First Lady’s gesture. Beneficiaries Francis Malunga and Leticia Chileshe said the wheelchairs would significantly improve their quality of life and ease mobility challenges they have faced for years.

Mandevu Constituency Chairman Hendrix Ndhlovu also thanked Mutinta Hichilema, describing her involvement as a powerful example of leadership that uplifts communities. He noted that the First Lady’s outreach complements the government’s broader development goals.

In a show of growing support for the ruling party, Chaisa Youth Chairman and recent defector Haggai Bwalya praised the government for its visible commitment to transforming underserved areas through infrastructure projects and social assistance.

Mutinta Hichilema’s hands-on approach continues to win admiration nationwide, as she not only supports the President’s agenda but also connects directly with communities in meaningful ways. Her efforts are seen as a vital link between national policy and real-life impact for ordinary citizens.
