With Zambia’s healthcare system facing uncertainty due to a review of international funding and support, Anthu Omwe Health Centre in Mungule Area, Chibombo District, has achieved a major milestone—providing free healthcare services to 50,000 patients in just one and a half years.

Delivering Essential Healthcare Services

The health centre has been instrumental in delivering essential medical services, including antenatal care, treatment for waterborne diseases, and under-five care, to a community that has long struggled with limited access to quality healthcare.

A Milestone of Dedication and Resilience

Founder Cyrille Njikeng credited this achievement to the resilience and commitment of both the medical and non-medical staff at Anthu Omwe.

“This milestone is a testament to the dedication, care, and commitment of the entire team at Anthu Omwe,” Njikeng said. “We are incredibly proud of our work and remain committed to making healthcare accessible to the most vulnerable communities in Zambia.”

Despite ongoing challenges in Zambia’s healthcare sector, the centre has continued to thrive, ensuring that rural communities receive the critical medical attention they need.

A Vision for Expanding Rural Healthcare Access

Njikeng emphasized that this milestone is only the beginning, as Anthu Omwe is part of a larger mission under The Dream Life Two Sixty—a dedicated initiative aimed at expanding healthcare services to underserved communities across Zambia.

“Our mission has always been to ensure that people in rural Zambia have access to the healthcare they deserve, regardless of their location or financial situation,” he explained. “We remain focused on providing life-saving services and hope to inspire further collaboration with local and international partners to bring healthcare closer to those who need it most.”

Collaborating for a Better Healthcare Future

Recognizing the wider healthcare challenges Zambia faces, Anthu Omwe continues to work closely with the government, strengthening rural healthcare delivery. By partnering with government agencies, local leaders, and non-governmental organizations, the centre is helping to bridge the healthcare gap for rural populations.

“We remain committed to supporting and complementing the government’s efforts to ensure no one is left behind in the fight for better healthcare in Zambia,” Njikeng affirmed.

A Model for Sustainable Healthcare Solutions

As Zambia navigates the complexities of healthcare funding and support, initiatives like Anthu Omwe Health Centre provide a beacon of hope. The centre’s success highlights the power of resilience, strategic partnerships, and community-driven healthcare solutions in ensuring sustainable and equitable access to medical services.

With 50,000 lives touched in just 18 months, Anthu Omwe Health Centre is proving that every patient matters, and quality healthcare is possible—even in the most underserved areas.
