Nangoma Member of Parliament, Collins Nzovu, recently commissioned a new block of three classrooms at Nakabu Combined School, marking a significant step in improving educational infrastructure in the region. The classroom block, which was constructed at a cost of 800,500 Kwacha, was financed by the Zambia Industrial Commercial Bank (ZICB).
During the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Nzovu expressed his gratitude to ZICB for their initiative, which he believes will empower learners and enhance their learning environment. He emphasized the importance of investing in education to foster the development of future leaders and contribute to the growth of the community.
District Education Standard Officer, Davy Chilembo, also spoke at the event, highlighting the remarkable growth in the school’s population. Since the introduction of the free education policy, the number of students has surged from 300 to 900, demonstrating the increased demand for educational services in the area.
ZICB’s Chief Financial Officer, Louis Kabula, remarked that the construction of the classroom block was part of the bank’s commitment to fulfilling its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He reiterated that ZICB is dedicated to supporting initiatives that contribute to the well-being of communities, with education being one of the key areas of focus.
The commissioning of the classroom block is expected to provide much-needed space for the growing student population, ensuring that more children have access to quality education in a conducive learning environment. The initiative is a testament to the importance of partnerships between public institutions and private organizations in advancing Zambia’s educational sector.
