Zambia has made significant progress in implementing the 2026/2027 Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) under the E-Voucher system, with hundreds of thousands of farmers already receiving redemption codes. The Ministry of Agriculture says more than 270,523 farmers out of a targeted 1,024,434 have so far received codes that allow them to access their allocated agricultural inputs from accredited agro-dealers. Of those who have received redemption codes, more than 51,052 farmers have already redeemed their inputs. The latest figures indicate that the programme is advancing while also highlighting the need for farmers who have received their codes to complete the redemption process ahead of the new farming season.

The E-Voucher system provides eligible farmers with access to their allocated FISP agricultural inputs through accredited agro-dealers. Farmers who have received their redemption codes are being encouraged to use them without unnecessary delays so they can obtain the inputs required for the 2026/2027 farming season. Early redemption can give farmers more time to plan their fields, prepare planting materials and organise other farming activities before the start of the season. It can also help farmers avoid last-minute pressure when demand for agricultural inputs increases. The Ministry of Agriculture is therefore calling on all farmers who have received their codes to visit accredited agro-dealers and redeem their allocations in good time.

The difference between the number of farmers who have received redemption codes and those who have already redeemed their inputs shows that many beneficiaries still need to complete the process. More than 270,523 farmers have received codes, while more than 51,052 have redeemed their allocated inputs so far. Farmers who have not yet completed their redemptions are encouraged to act promptly rather than waiting until planting activities are already underway. Timely access to inputs can help farmers prepare more effectively and make informed decisions about their production plans. It also supports the smooth implementation of FISP by allowing government and participating agro-dealers to track the distribution and redemption of agricultural inputs.

The Ministry has placed particular emphasis on the anticipated weather challenges during the 2026/2027 farming season. Farmers are being encouraged to consult Agricultural Extension Officers in their respective areas before making important decisions about their inputs and farming practices. Extension Officers can provide technical guidance on the selection, timing and use of inputs while also advising farmers on recommended agricultural practices suited to local conditions. Such advice can become especially important when weather conditions are uncertain or expected to create challenges for crop production. Farmers who make use of available agricultural extension services can improve their ability to adjust their farming activities according to technical and seasonal recommendations.

Weather conditions can have a major influence on agricultural production, making timely information an important resource for farmers. Rainfall patterns, dry spells and other weather-related factors can affect planting dates, crop development and the effectiveness of agricultural inputs. Farmers are therefore being urged to pay close attention to official weather and agricultural advisory messages issued through the Ministry’s communication channels. Following verified guidance can help farmers make better decisions instead of relying on unconfirmed information. Access to accurate weather and agricultural information will remain an important part of preparing for the 2026/2027 farming season.

Accredited agro-dealers also have an important responsibility in the successful implementation of the FISP E-Voucher programme. The Ministry is urging agro-dealers to maintain adequate stocks of approved and appropriate agricultural inputs while taking anticipated weather challenges into consideration. Having the necessary products available can help ensure that farmers who have received redemption codes can access their allocations when they visit participating outlets. Agro-dealers are also expected to follow the approved FISP guidelines throughout the redemption process. Their role is essential because they provide the point of access through which eligible farmers receive the inputs allocated to them under the programme.

The Ministry has made it clear that eligible farmers should not face unnecessary delays when redeeming their FISP allocations. Accredited agro-dealers have been directed to allow eligible beneficiaries to redeem their allocated inputs in accordance with the approved programme guidelines. No agro-dealer should deny or prevent an eligible farmer from accessing their inputs when that farmer meets the requirements of the programme. This direction reinforces the importance of transparency and accountability throughout the E-Voucher redemption process. Farmers who encounter problems during redemption should ensure that the appropriate authorities are informed so that concerns can be addressed through the relevant channels.

Farmers have also been reminded to protect their redemption codes and avoid sharing them with other people. The Ministry is encouraging beneficiaries to personally participate in the redemption process and to ensure that transactions involving their FISP allocations are authorised by them. Keeping redemption codes secure can help protect farmers from unauthorised transactions and reduce the risk of their allocations being misused. Farmers should therefore treat their codes as important programme information and avoid handing them to individuals who are not authorised to assist with the redemption process. Personal participation and careful verification of transactions can contribute to greater transparency within the FISP E-Voucher system.

The Ministry of Agriculture has further warned that it will continue monitoring the implementation of FISP and will take appropriate action where programme guidelines are not followed. Agro-dealers found preventing eligible farmers from accessing their inputs or engaging in practices that undermine the integrity and objectives of the programme may face action from the authorities. Continued monitoring is important because the FISP involves public resources and is designed to support eligible farmers with agricultural production. Effective oversight can help ensure that the programme operates according to its established rules and that beneficiaries receive the support intended for them. It can also strengthen confidence among farmers and other stakeholders involved in the agricultural sector.

The progress recorded in the 2026/2027 FISP rollout comes as Zambia prepares for another important farming season. Agriculture remains central to food production, household livelihoods and economic activity across the country, making timely access to agricultural inputs particularly important. The E-Voucher system provides a mechanism through which eligible farmers can obtain their allocated inputs from accredited agro-dealers while giving beneficiaries greater choice within the approved programme framework. However, the effectiveness of the system depends on farmers redeeming their allocations on time, agro-dealers maintaining appropriate stocks and all participants following the approved guidelines. Strong coordination between farmers, agro-dealers, extension officers and government authorities will therefore remain essential throughout the implementation process.

With more than 270,523 farmers already having received redemption codes and more than 51,052 having redeemed their inputs, Zambia’s 2026/2027 FISP implementation is making measurable progress. The Ministry of Agriculture is now urging beneficiaries who have received their codes to redeem their inputs early and prepare adequately for the coming farming season. Farmers are also encouraged to seek guidance from Agricultural Extension Officers and follow official weather and agricultural advisories, particularly in view of anticipated weather challenges. Accredited agro-dealers must maintain adequate stocks, follow FISP guidelines and ensure that eligible farmers can access their allocations without unnecessary delays. As the Ministry continues to monitor the programme, protecting redemption codes, authorising transactions personally and ensuring accountability at every stage will remain important to safeguarding the integrity of FISP and supporting farmers across Zambia.
