During a courtesy call on Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana, the President’s leadership was praised for creating a safe and conducive environment for national dialogue. Anti-Political Violence Association of Zambia President Benedette Mulenga emphasised that President Hichilema’s efforts have been instrumental in reducing incidents of violence across the country. His approach has strengthened trust in democratic processes and encouraged inclusive participation in national affairs.
The President has been commended for speaking out against violence, promoting reconciliation, and upholding human rights. These actions are seen as critical to Zambia’s socio-economic development, as they provide a stable environment for growth, investment, and social cohesion. Civil society organisations emphasised that leadership rooted in dialogue and non-violence is essential for long-term national progress.
The upcoming award ceremony will bring together government officials, diplomats, and civil society leaders. It will celebrate President Hichilema’s achievements and reaffirm the country’s commitment to peace and stability. Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana welcomed the initiative, reiterating the government’s dedication to fostering a peaceful and inclusive political environment. He highlighted that collaboration with stakeholders is central to strengthening democratic institutions and promoting national unity.
This recognition comes at a critical time when Zambia continues to consolidate its democratic structures. President Hichilema’s leadership is widely credited with reducing political tensions and fostering a culture of dialogue. Many Zambians have already witnessed a marked decrease in political violence, a development expected to further enhance peace and stability in the country. The award serves both as recognition of past achievements and as a reaffirmation of Zambia’s commitment to unity and democratic governance.
