Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, S.C., M.P., Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received Letters of Commission today at Charter House in Lusaka from Mr. Ershad Hossain Ripon Shikder, the newly appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Bangladesh to Zambia. The appointment marks a step forward in fostering stronger bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, Minister Haimbe emphasized that President Hakainde Hichilema has created a favorable business environment to attract investment and promote partnerships that are mutually beneficial. He noted that Bangladesh’s well-established clothing and textile industry provides valuable lessons for Zambia as it works to revitalize the Mulungushi Textiles.
The Minister also highlighted agriculture as a key sector with strong potential for collaboration. Zambia aims to leverage Bangladesh’s expertise to enhance agricultural productivity and strengthen trade between the two nations.
In his remarks, Mr. Shikder expressed Bangladesh’s readiness to partner with Zambia in multiple sectors, including health, textiles, and agriculture. He underlined the importance of joint initiatives that drive economic growth and development for both countries.
