The Zambian team will travel to Ghana for the first leg on February 3-4, 2026, before hosting the West Africans four days later in the reverse fixture. The winner of the two-legged tie will secure a place at the AFCON finals alongside hosts and three-time defending champions Morocco.
Eighteen teams will take part in the qualification process, contested over two rounds to determine seven nations that will join Morocco at the tournament. The four highest-ranked teams in the FIFA Futsal World Rankings—Angola, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, and Libya—receive a bye to the second round but must confirm their spot by winning their respective ties.
The first round of qualifiers will be played on January 23 for the first leg, with return matches on January 28. Scheduled fixtures include Cape Verde versus Senegal, Namibia against Kenya, Cameroon facing South Sudan, and Zimbabwe taking on Tanzania. Winners from these ties will advance to the second round to meet the top-ranked nations.
The second and decisive round takes place over two legs, from February 3-4 and February 7-8, 2026. Matches will see Cape Verde or Senegal face Egypt, Namibia or Kenya meet Libya, Cameroon or South Sudan take on Angola, and Zimbabwe or Tanzania play Côte d’Ivoire. Meanwhile, Ghana will challenge Zambia, while Mauritania, Mozambique, Guinea, and Algeria compete for the remaining qualifying spots.
Futsal, the indoor, five-a-side version of football, is played with rolling substitutes and a smaller, less bouncy ball. The format emphasizes skill, speed, and tactical play, offering a different challenge compared to traditional football.
With the qualifiers set, Zambia now focuses on preparing for the challenging encounter against Ghana, aiming to secure a place at the Morocco 2026 Futsal AFCON and showcase the nation’s talent on the continental stage.
