Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Mulambo Haimbe visited the Zambia Under-17 Boys National Team on Monday at their hotel in Doha, Qatar, to offer government support ahead of their FIFA Under-17 World Cup opener. The visit included a message of encouragement from President Hakainde Hichilema, delivered personally by Minister Haimbe. The Minister was accompanied by Stanley Kachabe, Chargé d’Affaires at the Zambian Embassy in Doha.
Minister Haimbe expressed confidence in the team, noting that the players have already demonstrated a winning mentality leading up to the tournament. He emphasized that the entire country is behind them and has placed its trust in both the players and coaching staff to deliver strong results. “For you to be here, you have already proved yourselves. All of us as Zambians trust you as players and coaches,” he said.
Haimbe encouraged the Junior Chipolopolo to seize the World Cup stage as an opportunity to advance their football careers. He stressed the importance of discipline both on and off the pitch, noting that Zambia is recognized for strong team spirit and professional conduct. He advised the players to follow the guidance of their coaches closely and maintain focus during training and matches.
The Minister also highlighted the role of faith in sustaining performance under pressure. He prayed with the boys and reminded them to continue their Christian practices throughout the tournament. Haimbe assured the team that he would join Zambian fans at the Aspire Zone to cheer them on as they face Indonesia in their Group H opener tomorrow.
Team Head of Delegation Mujala Mweemba thanked Minister Haimbe for taking time off his duties to support the players. In appreciation, Mujala presented Kopa replicas to the Minister and his delegation, marking a symbolic gesture of solidarity and encouragement ahead of the competition.
The visit reinforced Zambia’s commitment to supporting its young football talent on the international stage and highlighted the importance of national unity, discipline, and faith as key pillars for success.
