Zambian international Prisca Chilufya scored her first goal for Orlando Pride as the team settled for a 1-1 draw with Utah Royals at Inter&Co Stadium on Monday morning. The match marked Orlando’s return to National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) action after a brief international break.

Utah took an early lead in the 4th minute through Mina Tanaka, who chipped goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse from distance to silence the home crowd. The early goal forced Orlando to chase the game, and while they controlled much of the second half, it was Chilufya’s strike that salvaged a point.

Prisca Chilufya, playing as a winger, found the equalizer in the second half after sustained pressure from Pride. It was her debut goal for the club since joining the American side and a moment that showcased her pace and precision in front of goal.

Orlando Pride Head Coach Seb Hines had to make significant changes to his lineup. Star midfielder Marta and forward Angelina were unavailable after helping Brazil win Copa América Femenina over the weekend. Additionally, Kerry Abello and Ally Watt missed the game due to injuries.

Despite the absences, Pride came into the match sitting second in the NWSL standings and were eager to maintain momentum. The draw means they remain in strong contention as the playoff race continues, though missed chances left the team frustrated.

Orlando dominated possession and had several opportunities to score a winner, but Utah’s defense held firm in the closing stages. Chilufya’s goal, however, was a bright spot and a sign of her growing influence within the squad.

With this performance, Prisca Chilufya has cemented her place as one of the key attacking options for Orlando Pride. Her goal is a boost not only for the club but also for the Copper Queens ahead of future international fixtures.
