Zambia had the honour of receiving the Vice President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan, His Excellency Mr. Malik Agar Eyre, who visited Lusaka to deliver a special message from Sudanese President, His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al‑Burhan.

The high-level engagement reflects Zambia’s ongoing concern over the conflict in Sudan, which has resulted in widespread displacement, loss of life, and destruction of livelihoods. President Hakainde Hichilema expressed Zambia’s heartfelt solidarity with the Sudanese people, reaffirming the nation’s support for all efforts aimed at restoring peace, stability, and constitutional order in Sudan.

Zambia remains committed to a collaborative, multilateral approach to resolving the crisis, working hand-in-hand with regional and international organizations such as the African Union (AU), the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the East African Community (EAC), ECOWAS, and the United Nations (UN). These partnerships are central to promoting dialogue, humanitarian assistance, and sustainable peace across the region.

President Hichilema underscored the importance of continental unity in addressing instability, stating, “Our conviction that instability anywhere is instability everywhere makes us even more determined to support and advocate for a swift, peaceful, and inclusive resolution to the situation in Sudan.”

The visit of Vice President Malik Agar Eyre symbolizes a shared commitment between Zambia and Sudan to seek diplomatic solutions and uphold African solidarity in times of crisis. As the international community continues to call for peace in Sudan, Zambia’s position remains clear—standing firmly on the side of peace, dialogue, and human dignity for all Sudanese citizens.
