In a powerful demonstration of service and dedication to community upliftment, First Lady Mutinta Hichilema and her team visited Solwezi General Hospital this morning to deliver a significant donation of essential foodstuffs and materials. This generous contribution aims to bolster hospital operations and improve the care and well-being of patients in the North-Western Province.

The donation included 100 bags of 25kg mealie meal, 50 bales of sugar, 720 bottles of 750ml cooking oil, 70 bags of 10kg rice, alongside 50 mattresses and 50 blankets. These essential supplies are intended to support the nutritional needs vital for patient recovery, ensuring comfort and improved health outcomes during hospital stays.

Recognizing the importance of sustainable community development, the team also donated 80 sewing machines to be distributed across cooperatives in the region. This initiative is designed to empower local families by promoting skill development, economic self-reliance, and brighter futures through sustainable livelihoods.

This impactful effort was made possible through the generous support of key partners including Zambia Sugar Plc, the Chinese Association, the Sahara Foundation, and OAFLAD. Their collaboration underscores the power of unity in addressing community needs.

First Lady Mutinta Hichilema’s visit and donation serve as a reminder of the ongoing commitment to support health care infrastructure and foster economic empowerment in Zambia’s provinces, with a special focus on vulnerable populations. Through such initiatives, hope and tangible support continue to reach those who need it most.
