The Government of the Republic of Zambia has praised the Zambian Mission in Washington, DC, for its strategic and results-oriented approach in forging high-impact partnerships with leading humanitarian and development organisations. Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary – Administration, Mrs. Joma T. Simuyi, highlighted collaborations with institutions such as Project C.U.R.E. and Islamic Relief USA as exemplary cases of economic and public diplomacy delivering tangible benefits to the Zambian people. These partnerships have enabled the mobilisation of critical medical equipment and essential supplies to public health facilities nationwide, strengthening service delivery, improving health outcomes, and increasing access to quality healthcare for women, newborns, and vulnerable populations.

Mrs. Simuyi made the remarks during a courtesy call on Zambian Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Chibamba Kanyama, at the Embassy in Washington, DC. She conveyed the Minister of Health’s gratitude for the Mission’s efforts in advancing Zambia’s development agenda through strategic international engagement. She emphasised that under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema, the government has prioritised the health sector, reflected in increased budget allocations and the recruitment of health workers across the country. These investments demonstrate the government’s commitment to building a resilient, responsive, and equitable health system.

“The positive impact of these engagements is already evident in our hospitals and communities through improved service delivery and lives saved,” Mrs. Simuyi stated. During the visit, the delegation is set to tour Project C.U.R.E. warehouses, engage with technical teams, and hold consultative meetings with key partners to ensure that both current and future support aligns with Zambia’s national health priorities and long-term sustainability objectives. This strategic approach underscores the importance of international partnerships in strengthening the country’s health infrastructure and improving the wellbeing of its citizens.
