The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), in partnership with FIFA, has officially launched the ‘E’ Football License Coaching Course at the National Sports Development Centre (NASDEC) in Lusaka. Running from 26 to 30 January 2026, the course is designed to strengthen the skills of aspiring football coaches and lay a strong foundation for professional coaching in Zambia. It marks a critical step in FAZ’s long-term plan to professionalize coaching and improve player development at all levels of the game. Participants will benefit from both theoretical lessons and practical sessions that focus on fundamental coaching techniques and modern training methods.
The ‘E’ License is the entry-level certification in FAZ’s structured coaching pathway. It covers essential topics such as player management, training session planning, and effective communication with teams. Coaches will also be trained on creating safe, inclusive, and productive environments for players. By following FIFA standards, the program ensures that Zambian coaches are aligned with global best practices, preparing them to nurture young talent and strengthen grassroots football. The initiative reflects FAZ’s commitment to building a professional coaching framework that supports sustainable football growth in the country.
FAZ officials emphasized that the course will help elevate the quality of football across Zambia. Equipped with new skills, coaches can enhance club performance, improve national youth programs, and contribute to the development of competitive players for local leagues and national teams. The certification provides participants with a clear pathway to advance to higher coaching qualifications, including the ‘D’ License and beyond. This approach ensures that the country develops a strong pipeline of well-trained coaches capable of delivering consistent results. It also underscores the importance of coaching education in Zambia’s broader football strategy.
The collaboration between FAZ and FIFA highlights the shared goal of raising football standards nationwide. Successful participants will leave the course with the knowledge, confidence, and tools to make a tangible impact in their communities and clubs. The program also fosters networking and mentorship opportunities, allowing coaches to learn from experienced instructors and peers. By investing in coaching education, Zambia is taking deliberate steps to secure a future where its football programs are professionally managed and internationally competitive. This initiative is expected to strengthen the foundation for both youth and senior football in the country.
