Zambia and Israel Strengthen Ties During Bilateral Meeting

Yesterday, Zambia held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, His Excellency Mr. Gideon Safar. The meeting reaffirmed the long-standing relationship between the two nations, built on mutual respect and shared development goals.

President Hakainde Hichilema welcomed Israel’s decision to reopen its Embassy in Zambia after a 52-year absence, describing it as a key step in strengthening diplomatic ties. The reopening underscores both countries’ commitment to deepening engagement and cooperation.

Discussions focused on key areas identified during Zambia’s State Visit to Israel in 2023, including health, education, agriculture, energy, infrastructure development, and trade and investment. Both leaders emphasized the importance of leveraging expertise and innovation to advance sustainable development in Zambia.

President Hichilema also addressed regional stability, reaffirming Zambia’s position that lasting peace in the Middle East requires dialogue and diplomatic engagement. He encouraged all parties to commit to peaceful solutions that promote security and prosperity.

The meeting highlighted opportunities for enhanced collaboration across multiple sectors, positioning Zambia and Israel to strengthen economic, technological, and social partnerships for long-term growth.
