The National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing sports development across the country, with a strong emphasis on strengthening national federations and empowering athletes, coaches, and administrators. With 2025 shaping up to be a busy year for sports, NOCZ President Alfred Foloko and Secretary General Boniface Kambikambi have outlined the organization’s strategic priorities for the upcoming year.

“The National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting national federations through the effective delivery and implementation of various programs aimed at strengthening sports development in our country,” said Foloko in a recent statement.

Foloko highlighted that the focus of the NOCZ will be to create a robust support system for the entire sporting community. This includes initiatives designed to uplift athletes, provide coaching resources, and strengthen the administrative structures that form the backbone of Zambia’s sports ecosystem.

“Our commitment is to ensure that athletes and coaches have the necessary resources and platforms to excel. It is essential that the federation and its partners provide structured pathways for growth, ensuring the sustainability of our athletes and the sports they represent,” said Foloko.

The NOCZ’s strategic priorities for 2025 also include expanding talent identification programs, enhancing the quality of coaching, and providing better financial and technical support for athletes and administrators alike. This comprehensive approach aims to position Zambia as a competitive force in regional and international sports arenas.

Secretary General Boniface Kambikambi stressed the importance of collaboration between the NOCZ and the various national sports federations in executing these plans. He emphasized that the efforts to build capacity and capability across all levels of sport are vital for Zambia’s long-term success.

“The focus is on a holistic development model that benefits everyone in the sports sector—athletes, coaches, administrators, and officials. We need to work together to create an environment where talent can thrive and our athletes can perform at their best,” Kambikambi said.

As Zambia prepares for a packed sports calendar in 2025, including regional competitions, international qualifiers, and other major sporting events, the NOCZ’s renewed focus on empowerment and collaboration provides a hopeful outlook for the future of sports in the country.

With the strategic direction laid out, the NOCZ is poised to make substantial strides in fostering a thriving sports culture that not only delivers sporting excellence but also serves as a model for sustainable development in Zambia’s sporting community.
