If the earlier tracks on Uyinkosi are about faith received, the fifth song, “Hamba!”, is about faith sent out. Omega Circle’s energetic call to mission, now streaming, takes its inspiration from one of the best-known instructions in Scripture: go into all the world and preach the Gospel.
“Hamba” is Zulu for “go”, and the song makes full use of the word. The chorus pairs the Gospel command with the Zulu response, “Wathi hamba, go go preach”, creating a call-and-response feel that is instantly familiar to anyone who has grown up in church. It is written to be shouted, clapped and sung together, and it has the momentum of a song that can fill a room.
The lyrics remind listeners of what the job actually is: “Brethren, don’t forget the mission.” The repeated cry of “Go! Go! Go! Go!” builds urgency without becoming aggressive. It sounds like encouragement rather than pressure, the voice of a group that believes in the work.
A second verse adds important context. “Not by power, not by might, but by the Spirit of God,” it says, and then: “We shine the light of Jesus on every road we walk.” This is where the song shifts from instruction to humility. The mission is not a personal achievement, but a light passed along, and the emphasis is on how the messenger walks rather than how loudly they speak.
The song also speaks to who the Gospel is for. It reaches to the broken and the weary, to the rich and the poor, and closes on the conviction that the Gospel changes lives forevermore. That inclusiveness is characteristic of Omega Circle’s writing throughout the EP: no one is outside the invitation.
In the running order of Uyinkosi, “Hamba!” arrives at exactly the right moment. After four songs of declaration, surrender, courage and honest reflection, the fifth gives the listener something to do. It converts feeling into movement.
The track is also one of the most likely to travel. Its structure suits choirs, youth groups and outreach events, and its repeated hook is perfect for short-form video. Given the group’s TikTok momentum, an energetic, easily learned chorus such as this one has real potential to spread.
“Hamba!” is one of six tracks on Uyinkosi, which is out now on all major streaming platforms
