Zambia Strengthens Ties with China Following High-Level Meeting

On 2 December 2025, Zambia held a successful meeting with Mr. Wang Cheng, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang Province. The engagement marked a significant step in deepening cooperation and mutual understanding between Zambia and the People’s Republic of China.

Vice President Dr. W.K. Mutale-Nalumango expressed gratitude to the Communist Party of China for their warm invitation and hospitality. He emphasized that the meeting reflects the enduring friendship between the two nations, built on equality, mutual benefit, and respect for sovereignty.

Highlighting China’s remarkable transformation, Dr. Mutale-Nalumango noted that Zambia looks forward to learning from China’s experience. He outlined plans for collaboration in trade, investment, and knowledge exchange as key drivers for sustainable growth and prosperity for the Zambian people.

The Vice President reaffirmed Zambia’s openness to Chinese investment in key sectors including agriculture, mining, infrastructure, energy, and technology. He described these partnerships as opportunities to foster innovation, drive economic growth, and create shared prosperity.

Zambia and China share a historic friendship that continues to grow stronger. Both sides agreed to continue advancing collaboration, emphasizing mutual respect and long-term cooperation as foundations for a sustainable and prosperous future.
