ZNFU Annual Congress Highlights Sustainable Farming and Energy Opportunities

President Hakainde Hichilema officiated the 119th Zambia National Farmers’ Union (ZNFU) Annual Congress at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka. The event brought together stakeholders from across the agricultural sector to address strategies for boosting productivity amid changing climatic conditions.

The Congress focused on the theme, “Sustaining Productivity in a Changing Climate,” emphasizing the need for farmers to adopt resilient and innovative practices. President Hichilema encouraged the agricultural community to embrace sustainable approaches, including active participation in the energy sector, to capitalize on opportunities from the growing demand for power.

In his remarks, the President acknowledged the leadership of outgoing ZNFU President Jervis Zimba, praising his dedication to advancing farmers’ interests. He also extended best wishes to incoming ZNFU President Zvikomborero Mahombe, urging him to collaborate closely with government to further strengthen and transform Zambia’s agricultural sector.

The 119th ZNFU Annual Congress provided a platform for knowledge sharing, strategic planning, and collaboration, reinforcing the importance of innovation, sustainability, and collective action in maintaining Zambia’s agricultural productivity in a changing climate.
