Zambia was represented by Batista “Lion of ZNS” Mende, Mwelwa “The Wolf” Nkhata, Prince Tafuna, Jarcel “The Black Leopard” Chimbwe, and Chipego “Blue Beast” Simukuwa.

Versus MMA is one of Southern Africa’s fastest-growing mixed martial arts promotions, bringing together top talent from across the continent. The event provided ULEMU Fight Academy’s fighters with a platform to showcase their skills, test themselves against elite opponents, and gain valuable international experience.

Despite the results not favoring the Zambian team this time, the fighters displayed exceptional grit, technical skill, and heart throughout their bouts. Each athlete fought with intensity and pride, representing Zambia with the discipline and determination that have become hallmarks of ULEMU Fight Academy’s approach to training and competition.

The academy, which continues to build Zambia’s presence in regional MMA, has been instrumental in developing a new generation of fighters ready to compete at professional levels. By participating in major promotions like Versus MMA, the fighters gain exposure that helps raise the country’s profile in combat sports while inspiring more young Zambians to take up martial arts.

Head Coach and team officials commended the fighters for their effort and professionalism, noting that competing against high-caliber opponents is part of the growth process. They emphasized that every bout adds to the athletes’ experience, sharpening their techniques and mental strength for future competitions.

Versus MMA 16 once again highlighted Zambia’s growing footprint in African mixed martial arts. With continued support and training, ULEMU Fight Academy remains focused on developing champions who can compete and win on the international stage.
