The Zambian Consulate in Dubai has encouraged the Zambia Under-17 National Team, the Junior Chipolopolo, to display determination and national pride as they begin preparations for the World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

Speaking on behalf of the Consul General during a visit to the team at their hotel, First Secretary for Politics Felix Miti said football has always been a strong platform to showcase Zambia on the global stage. He recalled Zambia’s historic 4-1 victory over Italy at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, a result that brought international attention to Zambian football.

Miti, accompanied by Consulate Liaison Officer Jumah Banda, urged the young players to represent the country with honor and pride. “As you go to the World Cup, you have a unique opportunity to market Zambia. We want you to win, but every game is a chance to show the world what our country can do. Wear your jerseys with pride and lift the country high,” he said.

He assured the players and technical team that the Consulate would provide full support during their stay in Dubai.

FAZ Head of Delegation Mujala Mweemba expressed gratitude to the Consulate for their hospitality and support. Mweemba, also Luapula Province FAZ Chairperson, said the Football Association of Zambia is proud of the team’s qualification for the World Cup. “We are grateful to the Consulate staff here in Dubai for welcoming us and making us feel at home,” he said.

The visit highlights Zambia’s commitment to supporting its young athletes and promoting the country through football on the world stage.
