The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) is taking proactive steps to educate the next generation on the importance of energy conservation. As part of this initiative, the ERB held a school awareness activity at Edgar Chagwa Lungu Secondary School in Petauke, Eastern Province.

The ERB recognizes the critical role young people play in shaping a sustainable energy future. Through school programmes, the regulator aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions on energy usage and conservation.

During the sensitisation programme, the ERB team delivered interactive presentations to help learners understand the importance of energy conservation in the context of climate change. Students were introduced to the role and mandate of the ERB and given practical tips on reducing energy consumption. The sessions also highlighted the benefits of switching to alternative and cleaner energy sources.

By engaging students directly, the ERB seeks to foster a culture of responsible energy use that can extend beyond schools into communities. These initiatives aim to empower the youth to contribute to Zambia’s sustainable energy goals and promote awareness of energy efficiency practices nationwide.
