Yesterday, State House hosted a formal swearing-in ceremony for Zambia’s newly appointed envoys and senior government officials. President Hakainde Hichilema emphasized the urgency and responsibility of their roles, stressing that these positions demand action, not leisure.

The President addressed the appointees directly, stating, “Work. Deliver. Attract investment. These roles are not a holiday but a duty to Zambia.” The message reinforced the expectation that each official must contribute to national development and strengthen Zambia’s international relationships.

The newly appointed envoys include:

  • Ambassador Albert Muchanga to Ethiopia
  • Ambassador Prof. Nkombo Muuka to the United Arab Emirates
  • Ambassador Abidon Liston Mawere to Russia
  • High Commissioner Grace Mutembo to South Africa

These diplomatic appointments aim to enhance Zambia’s international presence and attract foreign investment. The envoys are expected to represent the country effectively, build partnerships, and support Zambia’s economic agenda abroad.

At the Cabinet Office, the President also swore in senior officials:

  • Mr. Eugene Moonga, Director of Policy Implementation & Evaluation
  • Mr. Muyambango Nkwemu, Public Policy Specialist

These appointments strengthen Zambia’s governance framework. They will be tasked with ensuring government policies are executed efficiently, while also advising on public policy decisions that impact the nation’s development trajectory.

President Hichilema concluded by reminding the appointees of their accountability, stating that the nation expects them to serve with honour and lead with integrity. Their performance will be critical in advancing Zambia’s strategic goals and fostering public trust.

The swearing-in marks a significant step in Zambia’s efforts to enhance governance and international engagement. The nation now looks to these leaders to deliver results and uphold the standards of public service.
