Zambia has officially been awarded the rights to host the 2025 Confederation of African Athletics Southern Region (CAA-SR) Cross Country Championship, marking a significant milestone for the country’s athletics sector. Zambia Athletics (ZA) General Secretary Teddy Shimishi confirmed the development, describing the approval as a vote of confidence in Zambia’s ability to deliver a world-class event. “Zambia, through Zambia Athletics, was awarded the hosting rights for the 2025 Confederation of African Athletics Southern Region Cross Country Championship by the Confederation of African Athletics Southern Region on 25th June 2025,” Shimishi stated. “We are further delighted to confirm that these hosting rights have now been officially approved and endorsed.”

The championship will bring together top athletes from across the Southern African region, providing a platform to showcase talent and strengthen regional sporting ties.
