Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Keith Mweemba has urged newly inducted Executive Committee members to move beyond theory and begin implementing the insights gained during the FIFA Induction Workshop held in Lusaka.

Speaking at the conclusion of the two-day workshop hosted at Intercontinental Hotel, Mweemba extended heartfelt appreciation to FIFA for its continued support in building the capacity of football leadership across its member associations. He acknowledged the importance of such initiatives in strengthening football governance and promoting sustainable development within the sport.

“We have learnt quite a lot of things and what remains to be done now is a matter of implementation,” said Mweemba. “We have a very good executive and going forward there is no doubt that the knowledge we have gained will begin to show in our actions.”

The workshop focused on good governance, strategic planning, financial management, and fostering inclusivity in football. According to Mweemba, this marks the beginning of a new chapter where action and accountability must take centre stage.

He called on the new Executive Committee members to work collaboratively and remain focused on the bigger picture—developing the game at all levels, from grassroots to elite. “This is a moment of responsibility. We must ensure that what we have learnt is not only retained but also reflected in how we serve Zambian football.”

The FIFA Induction Workshop is part of a broader commitment by the global football governing body to enhance professionalism and transparency within its member associations. With Zambia’s football landscape poised for growth, the emphasis now shifts to practical application of the principles discussed during the workshop.

President Mweemba reaffirmed FAZ’s dedication to fostering a vibrant football environment, urging the executive team to align their efforts with both FIFA’s global vision and the unique needs of the Zambian football community.
