Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Keith Mweemba has called on the Zambia National Futsal Team to represent the nation with pride and determination as they prepare for their historic appearance at the 2025 Continental Futsal Championship in Thailand.

Speaking through FAZ vice president Mutale Ng’andu during the official send-off ceremony held on Saturday night at Prince Charles Hotel in Makeni, Mweemba praised the team’s efforts and emphasized the significance of their qualification on Zambia’s football journey.

“This is not just a tournament—it is a milestone. I urge you to work very hard and fly our flag high,” Mweemba stated in his address. “We will be rooting for you and hoping that this stands out as our build-up from our appearance at the last Africa Cup of Nations.”

Zambia’s qualification for the 2025 Continental Futsal Championship marks a major breakthrough for the country’s emerging futsal scene. It reflects years of dedication by coaches, players, and administrators who have worked tirelessly to raise the standard of the sport at grassroots and national levels.

The team’s participation in Thailand is expected to expose them to top-tier competition, helping to sharpen their skills and provide valuable experience on the international stage. For a country with deep footballing roots, the move into futsal’s global arena is being seen as a natural and ambitious next step.

FAZ has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the growth of futsal and other alternative formats of the game. The association is working to expand futsal infrastructure, nurture talent, and ensure that Zambia remains competitive across all football disciplines.

As the team departs for Thailand, there is a strong wave of national support behind them. Many Zambians view this as not just a sporting contest, but a moment of inspiration that could open doors for future futsal stars and elevate Zambia’s reputation in international indoor football.

With high hopes and the weight of national pride on their shoulders, the Zambia National Futsal Team is ready to make history—and possibly, surprise the world.
