Chisamba District Commissioner Joel Mboyoma has lauded Chief Chamuka of the Lenje people for his instrumental role in advancing Zambia’s clean energy agenda. This commendation comes after the successful allocation of over 100 hectares of customary land for the establishment of a 100-megawatt solar power plant in Chisamba District.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the solar facility, Mr. Mboyoma expressed heartfelt appreciation for Chief Chamuka’s visionary leadership and willingness to support a project that promises to drive regional investment and spur economic transformation.

“We are grateful to Chief Chamuka for availing land for this important national project,” said the District Commissioner. “His commitment has opened the door for broader investment opportunities in Chisamba and the Central Province.”

The Chisamba solar power plant, now Zambia’s largest of its kind, positions the district as a strategic hub for development across various sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, and renewable energy. Mr. Mboyoma emphasized that the success of the project showcases the powerful synergy that can arise when traditional leadership collaborates effectively with government initiatives.

“This project sets a strong example. It shows that when traditional leadership and government collaborate, we can attract serious investment. I call on more investors to consider Chisamba — the chief is welcoming, and the potential here is significant,” he added.

Highlighting the unique advantage of customary land tenure in the district, Mr. Mboyoma noted that much of the land remains under traditional ownership, which provides flexibility for community-driven economic projects. He encouraged investors to engage respectfully and transparently with traditional leaders to unlock the full potential of Chisamba’s development opportunities.

The partnership between Chief Chamuka and the government exemplifies how inclusive and forward-thinking leadership can pave the way for sustainable growth, positioning Chisamba as a beacon for Zambia’s clean energy future.
