Zambia Strengthens UK Relations During Courtesy Visit by Lord Collins of Highbury

Zambia recently had the honour of welcoming Lord Collins of Highbury, the UK Parliamentary Under Secretary for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, for a courtesy call that highlighted the enduring partnership between the two nations.

President Hakainde Hichilema described the meeting as warm and constructive, emphasizing how the discussions reaffirmed the strong bilateral ties rooted in mutual respect, good governance, and the rule of law. “Our relationship with the United Kingdom continues to be built on shared values and a commitment to sustainable development,” President Hichilema remarked.

During the visit, both parties explored the breadth of cooperation that exists between Zambia and the UK. Key areas of focus include health, education, social protection, climate action, environmental conservation, defence, and energy. These sectors are vital pillars supporting Zambia’s development agenda and are aligned with the country’s sustainable development goals.

President Hichilema expressed gratitude for the UK’s ongoing support, noting that the partnership remains crucial in advancing Zambia’s national priorities. “We value the UK’s wide-ranging development cooperation, which plays a significant role in improving the lives of our citizens,” he said.
