President Hakainde Hichilema has expressed deep gratitude and appreciation for the enduring partnership between the Government of Zambia and the United Church of Zambia (UCZ), following a high-level engagement with a delegation from the Church’s Synod led by His Grace Bishop Festus Bwembya Chulu.
In a warm and constructive meeting, President Hichilema welcomed the UCZ delegation and commended the Church for its unwavering support and collaboration in addressing some of the country’s most pressing challenges. The discussions reflected a spirit of unity, shared responsibility, and mutual respect between the Church and the State.
“We were pleased and deeply honored to host a delegation from the United Church of Zambia Synod, led by His Grace Bishop Festus Bwembya Chulu,” said President Hichilema. “Our meeting was both cordial and constructive, as we engaged in meaningful discussions on matters of mutual interest between the Church and Government.”
The President extended heartfelt thanks to the UCZ for its critical contributions across key sectors such as health, education, and food security. He noted that the Church continues to play a pivotal role in complementing the government’s efforts to improve the well-being of Zambians, particularly in underserved and rural communities.
“We greatly value the wisdom and counsel of the Church. As partners in service to our people, we remain committed to maintaining open and fruitful dialogue,” President Hichilema affirmed. “We know that both the Church and Government are united in our shared mission to uplift and serve our communities.”
The UCZ, one of Zambia’s largest Christian denominations, has a long-standing legacy of working closely with national leaders to promote social justice, moral guidance, and community development. President Hichilema emphasized that such partnerships are essential in building a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous Zambia.
This latest engagement highlights the importance of collaboration between religious institutions and the State, reinforcing a vision where moral leadership and governance walk hand in hand to shape a brighter future for all Zambians.
