A solemn memorial service is underway at the Roman Catholic Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Pretoria, South Africa, to honour the late Sixth Republican President of Zambia, Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu. The service has drawn a large gathering of Zambians living in South Africa, alongside close family and dignitaries.
Government representatives led by the Secretary to Cabinet, Mr. Patrick Kangwa, have arrived at the Cathedral located at the corner of Bosman and Nana Sita Streets, Tshwane, Gauteng. Accompanying Mr. Kangwa are prominent figures including former Vice President Hon. Enoch Kavindele and former Secretary to Cabinet Leslie Mbula.
The special Requiem Mass provides an opportunity for the Zambian community in South Africa to come together in mourning and remembrance of President Lungu’s leadership and legacy.
