In an era increasingly challenged by misinformation and disinformation, Zambia’s Vice President Dr. W.K Mutale-Nalumango has emphasized the urgent need for professionals who can accurately convey information, analyze it critically, and communicate it with clarity and responsibility.
This message was shared during a courtesy call by a delegation from the Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communications (ZIPRC) to the Office of the Vice President. The delegation was led by ZIPRC Vice President Mwika Malindima and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Nimon Muleya. They were accompanied by Council Member Judy Tembo and Treasurer Temwa Nyirenda.
“Our country, now more than ever, needs people who are able to put together the right information at the right time, think critically about it, and make important choices of words wisely,” Dr. Mutale-Nalumango said. “ZIPRC is such an asset, and as the Office of the Vice President, we are more than willing to collaborate and work together with you.”
The meeting reinforced the importance of strategic communication in national development and governance. It also underscored the role of public relations and communication professionals in shaping public understanding and trust, especially in an age where misinformation can rapidly influence public perception and decision-making.
Dr. Mutale-Nalumango acknowledged ZIPRC’s growing role in advancing professional communication standards in Zambia and expressed support for future partnerships aimed at enhancing public awareness, transparency, and civic education.
The Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communications continues to position itself as a key stakeholder in the country’s development agenda, advocating for ethical and informed communication across sectors.
This renewed commitment from the Vice President’s office marks a significant step towards a more collaborative approach to managing the country’s communication landscape in the face of rising digital challenges.
