Zambia, the record seven-time champions of the COSAFA Cup, have been placed in Group D of the 2025 HOLLYWOODBETS COSAFA Cup, where they will face Comoros and Botswana in the group stage of Southern Africa’s top football competition. The tournament is scheduled to run from June 4 to 15 in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

Heading into the tournament, the Chipolopolo boys bring with them an unmatched pedigree, having lifted the COSAFA title more times than any other nation. Their legacy, depth in squad talent, and consistency make them the team to watch as they aim for an eighth crown.

Group D will not be without challenges. Botswana, a team that has grown in strength and cohesion, and Comoros, known for their recent impressive performances on the continental stage, will be eager to make their mark. However, Zambia’s seasoned players and history of dominating the competition place them as firm favorites to advance to the knockout stages.

The 2025 edition of the COSAFA Cup will be a historic one as it marks the first time the tournament is hosted in Mangaung, a major city in South Africa’s Free State province. Matches will be played at the iconic Free State Stadium, which gained global recognition for hosting several games during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The venue’s international-standard facilities are expected to provide an electrifying atmosphere for fans and players alike, making this edition of the tournament one of the most anticipated in recent history.

Zambia’s campaign will be closely monitored by football enthusiasts across the region, as the team is expected not only to perform but also to inspire. With a mix of experienced internationals and emerging talents, Chipolopolo is set to bring their trademark intensity and passion to Bloemfontein.

As the countdown to kick-off begins, all eyes will be on Group D to see if Zambia can live up to its billing and continue its reign as COSAFA’s most decorated team.
